1.1 Background of the Study
Public safety is a fundamental concern in any society, encompassing the prevention of crimes, accidents, and other threats to the well-being of citizens. In Lokoja Local Government Area (LGA), Kogi State, issues such as traffic violations, petty crimes, and public unrest necessitate proactive measures to ensure safety. Public relations (PR) campaigns have proven effective in promoting public safety by educating citizens, fostering collaboration with law enforcement agencies, and encouraging compliance with safety regulations. Recent studies by Adamu and Bello (2023) demonstrate the role of PR in creating awareness and promoting behavioral change, especially in urban areas facing diverse safety challenges. This study explores the effectiveness of PR campaigns in enhancing public safety in Lokoja LGA.
